A Visionary Commitment from Barry Dewberry and Arlene Evans for the Center for the Arts
The College of Visual and Performing Arts is pleased to announce that the George Mason University Board of Visitors voted to approve a resolution that the university’s Center for the Arts be renamed the Barry Dewberry and Arlene Evans Center for the Arts (Dewberry Evans Center) upon completion of the renovation in recognition of their present and future support.
The transformative gift from Barry Dewberry and Arlene Evans for the Center for the Arts sets the stage for the upcoming capital campaign to reimagine the venue for future generations of Mason students, educators, visiting artists, and audience members. This generous gift honors what the Center has been and puts the vision of what it can be in clear focus: a platform for inspiration, connection, and community.
The campaign for the Center for the Arts will be rooted in both the history and aspiration of shared artistic experiences between students, artists, and audiences at Mason. This lead gift—and the campaign that will follow—ensures that the arts at Mason will continue to connect the campus and community with new voices, honored traditions, and lasting memories.
