As announced in the August 2018 Center for the Arts newsletter, George Mason University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) has named Adrienne Bryant Godwin as the new Programming Manager for the Center for the Arts (CFA) and the Hylton Performing Arts Center. Adrienne’s extensive credentials are described in the CFA newsletter. Here are a few quotes from Adrienne showing her excitement as she begins a new adventure in the CFA community.
Adrienne calls herself a self-styled “culture vulture”
“By culture vulture, I mean that I am interested in exploring and enjoying all disciplines of the arts: classical music, dance, theater, jazz, cirque, poetry, visual art – you name it, I’m into it! And while I might not be an aficionado in all these areas, I have a curiosity and desire to experience them and educate myself on their history and trends.”
There is enthusiasm in the “CFA Family”
“The (CFA) staff and patrons have shown such great enthusiasm for the Great Performances at Mason Series, and I can’t wait to try out a few new ideas and see what speaks to the communities here... Programming for universities provides such a wealth of opportunities for collaboration which is something I am very passionate about… Even though I’ve only been here 6 weeks, I’ve had the great pleasure of meeting many members of the CFA “family” at a variety of events. Everyone I speak to has their own unique relationship with the Center, and I’ve enjoyed hearing stories of past artists that have graced the stage, as well as dreams for who could come in future seasons.”
On working with other Friends Organizations
“Throughout my career I have worked at a variety of performing arts centers … and they have all been lucky enough to have similar affiliated groups. Although each institution structured these cohorts a bit differently, they were all able to harness the affinity and generosity of these individuals, to create a wonderful sense of community around the Arts.”
Welcome Adrienne!
The Friends of the Center for the Arts, and its Board of Directors, wholeheartedly welcome Adrienne Bryant Godwin as CVPA’s new Programming Manager. We look forward to benefitting from the talents and vibrancy she already has demonstrated. We are truly excited to have her join what she has called “the CFA Family.”
