After experiencing great success at the Hylton Center, the enriching and affordable Family Series is making its debut at the Center this coming season. Planning this series at the Center was no easy feat, and discussions spanned several years before performances could be organized around an already robust event schedule. The 2018/2019 Family Series features a variety of performances, from a world-famous dog show to a literary classic coming to life and can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages.
“We realized we needed to ‘think outside the box’ and see if there wasn’t some way to make it possible,” recalls longtime Director of Programming Tom Reynolds. “With the extraordinary help and willingness of the production staff, we were able to make the dates work. We are confident that the performances selected will be very appealing for parents or grandparents to attend with their children. We selected events with a broad appeal, and with various age groups in mind. We have made the prices as reasonable as possible, so that families can attend an event together for about what it would cost to go to a movie.”
The inaugural season includes four acts that are guaranteed to delight children and parents alike. The series launches with Aga-Boom, featuring three veteran performers of Cirque du Soleil. The Olate father-son duo bring their canine variety show Olate Dogs, which made them winners on America’s Got Talent. Philadelphia’s Enchantment Theatre Company presents an original stage adaptation of the classic children’s book, The Phantom Tollbooth. Lastly, the team behind Erth’s theatrical productions recreates early marine life in Prehistoric Aquarium Adventure.
The response to the announcement of the Family Series has been overwhelmingly positive. Check out the full line-up of performances and join the fun!
