Calling all intrepid travelers: Moon Mouse: A Space Odyssey launches on April 6! You won’t want to miss Lightwire Theater’s dazzling aesthetic, which utilizes glow-in-the-dark puppets, technology, and music to tell captivating stories—in this case, the tale of one Marvin the Mouse. He desperately wants to be popular, but the cool rats aren’t having it. But in Marvin’s interior world of science fiction and fantasy, he’s the hero on the adventure of a lifetime: a trip to the moon! Hop aboard his homemade rocket for a cosmic trip about celebrating differences.

According to Broadway World, “it's a show that transcends language barriers and connects with viewers of all ages on a deep emotional level.”

You might recognize Lightwire Theater’s incredible talent from America’s Got Talent, when they were semi-finalists in season seven.

“Their performance was absolutely incredible,” Rolling Stone said of their time on the show. “Their glow-in-the-dark creations moved with grace and panache.”

Lightwire Theater was also the winner of Tru TV's Fake Off, and has brought incredible family programming all over the world, including to Hong Kong, Estonia, Canada, Belarus, China, and Abu Dhabi.

A child’s boundless sense of adventure, combined with the pure delight of using your imagination, together form the beating heart of Ruth Stiles Gannett’s childhood classic (and Newbery Honor winner) My Father’s Dragon. In the book’s 75th anniversary year, the Philadelphia-based Enchantment Theatre Company presents a charming and creative stage adaptation at the Center for the Arts on Sunday, November 24 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.*, as part of the Family Series.

A baby dragon is being held captive on Wild Island, and nine-year-old Elmer Elevator cannot abide by that. So he sets off on a rescue mission armed with only the essentials: chewing gum, lollipops, rubber bands, hair ribbons, and heaps of determination! To get to the dragon, Elmer must outwit some tricky talking animals, which Enchantment Theatre Company cleverly brings to life using whimsical puppets.

Masks, creative scenic effects, original music, and an energetic cast bring home the uplifting story of unlikely friendship.

This production will also be performed at our sister venue, the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas, Virginia, on Saturday, November 23 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.*

*The November 24 at 4 p.m. performance at the Center for the Arts and the November 23 performance at 2 p.m. at the Hylton Performing Arts Center will be sensory friendly, designed to create a welcoming and comfortable arts experience for people with autism, sensory sensitivities, or other social, learning, or cognitive disabilities.

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood LIVE: King for a Day at the Center on October 15

The hugely popular Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood LIVE!, based on the Emmy Award-winning #1 PBS Kids TV series, has delighted live audiences on stages across the country. Now, on October 15 at 2:30 and 5:30 p.m., families’ favorite characters are hopping on Trolley to Fairfax with Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood LIVE: King for a Day!

Daniel and all his friends invite you for a brand-new adventure in the “Neighborhood of Make-Believe" where Daniel learns what it takes to be king. The beloved characters come alive on stage to captivate its audience with new songs to sing along to, magical moments, and surprise guests along the way! It’s an event filled with incredible fun that teaches valuable lessons of kindness, helping others, and being a friend.

The performance features new songs as well as fan-favorites from the series, including the beloved “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” as well as wonderful surprises that will warm the hearts of preschoolers, parents, and grandparents alike.
